Christmas comes to Stirling Castle

The festivities kick off at Stirling Castle this week as we announce our Christmas event line-up.

The Christmas celebrations begin with the Christmas ceilidh and panto, Festive Frolics, on Sunday 2 December. This is followed by the Christmas Fayre where shoppers can pick up unique Christmas gifts and local food and drink produce on Tuesday 4 December.

There will be an evening of advent and Christmas delights on Thursday 6 December as Scottish medieval group Canty perform medieval carols and traditional seasonal songs at A Canty Christmas. This event will also feature the Scottish premiere of Joanna L’Estrange’s Gospel-style setting of a prayer by Jane Austin.

On Sunday 9 December, visitors can enjoy Christmas carols performed by NYCOS Stirling Choir as Carols at the Castle returns to the Great Hall.

Starting on Saturday 15 December and running until Sunday 23 December, Stirling Castle will host a range of Christmas Lunches. Visitors who are looking to add festive magic to their Christmas Lunch will dine from a three-course festive menu in the Castle’s intimate Green Room.

"From a shopping fayre and exclusive lunches to Christmas carols and panto, there’s something for everyone to make their countdown to Christmas special this year.”

Stirling Castle, one of over 70 staffed Historic Scotland attractions managed by HES, is one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles, first mentioned around 1110. Almost every Scottish monarch had either lived in the castle, or been crowned or died at the Castle.

Year of Young People 2018

The Year of Young People (YoYP 2018) will inspire Scotland through its young people aged 8 to 26, celebrating their achievements, valuing their contributions to communities and creating new opportunities for them to shine locally, nationally and globally. Over 200 young people throughout Scotland will become #YOYP2018 Ambassadors, ensuring their communities know about local opportunities to celebrate young people.
